This weekend is the first in October, and Calgary has a full lineup of autumn events. From pumpkin patches to corn mazes, the city has something for everyone.
For those in the Halloween spirit, the city is host to a horror movie trivia night, ghost tours and Pumpkins After Dark, though there are plenty of events for anyone not quite ready for spooky season.

The Calgary Flames play their final preseason game this weekend, taking on the Winnipeg Jets. The team kicks off the season in Vancouver on Oct. 9 before returning to Calgary on Oct. 12 for the home opener against Philadelphia.

The Confluence is welcoming the first weekend in October with a horror movie trivia night. Questions will range from classics to moderns, testing years of scary movie knowledge. Teams are competing for the chance to win a private film screening at the Burnswest Theatre at the Confluence.

Oktoberfest at Century Downs Casino

Paulaner Brewery’s Oktoberfest celebrations are taking place at Century Downs Casino this weekend. There will be competitions for yodelling and stein holding, and a prizes for the best dressed guests. A ticket to Oktoberfest comes with a souvenir beer stein.

The annual CIBC Run for the Cure takes place in Calgary this weekend, with donations being used to support Canadians affected by breast cancer.
