Sarah Hyland embraced one of the season’s emerging trends with a peekaboo neckline while attending Variety’s 2024 Power of Women event on Oct. 24 at Mother Wolf in Los Angeles. The “Modern Family” alum received the first-ever Variety Courage Award presented by Purina, which highlighted her advocacy for animal welfare and survivors of domestic violence.
For the evening, Hyland chose a full-length dress with a black satin décolletage that contrasted against the dress’s silver shimmer. The silver portion featured intricate, web-like detailing throughout. She complemented the look with minimal sparkling silver jewelry and black nails.
The actress’s husband, Wells Adams, accompanied her wearing a blue suit over a crisp white shirt. The couple have been married since August 2022, with the bride wearing Vera Wang to their Santa Barbara ceremony.
“Accepting this award for courage has made me think about what that word means to me. It takes courage to wake up every morning and face the world knowing that people may have no idea what you are going through,” Hyland said in her acceptance speech.
“It’s all too easy to feel isolated and misunderstood, no matter how strong you are,” she added.
Other 2024 honorees included Amy Adams, who supports The RightWay Foundation, which helps foster youth in Los Angeles build sustaining adulthoods; Carol Burnett for The Hereditary Disease Foundation, which funds innovative research to cure Huntington’s disease and impact other brain disorders, and Zoe Saldaña with Baby2Baby, which provides necessities to children in need.
The appearance comes a day after the “Love Island USA” host attended Max Mara’s cocktail party honoring Joey King at the Chateau Marmont. The fete celebrated the Italian brand awarding King the Women in Film’s Max Mara Face of the Future Award.
The evening also brought out Elizabeth Banks, a past honoree, Lori Harvey, Justine Lupe, Ashley Benson and Lucy Hale, to name a few — all wearing Max Mara.
