Amsterdam is one of these cities you just feel like going back to. With its quaint topography and exciting cultural scene, it’s worth planning regular “revisits” and part of the allure is to witness new hotel concepts springing up around the capital. The most recent one? Pillows Grand Boutique Hotel Maurits at the Park situated on the eastern verge of the city overlooking the Oosterpark.
The seventh addition to Pillows Hotels – a local hospitality group with properties located across different cities of Pays-Bas – the Amsterdam hotel occupies a beautifully renovated building dating back to 1908. Its interiors were imagined by an award-winning Studio Linse that declares to “respect the past” – a concept clearly felt inside the Maurits at the Park. Original brick walls and restored wooden beams meet understated elegance of an earthy color palette and furniture classics from Scandinavia. Inside the rooms, fine linens and custom-made toiletries offer the ultimate sense of comfort. The artistry permeates Hotel’s spaces and was highlighted with the artworks by Raphaël Hermans – a different piece decorating every room.
Serenity, harmony, balance. As the modern definition of luxury is drifting towards unostentatious, relaxed experiences that provide rest from the unrealistic chase of “having more”, Maurits at the Park is a place to be. With its spa and an impressive library bar open exclusively to the guests, it is a microcosm of good design that wouldn’t be complete without great food. And at Marits, culinary adventures are an intrinsic part of the concept.
