Marcus Adoro, lead guitarist of Eraserheads, will be absent from the OPM rock band’s upcoming activities after fresh allegations of rape surfaced on social media.
Reddit user @NMomThrowaway12345 took to the platform Reddit to accuse Adoro of raping her while in high school, titling her post as “the beloved Marcus Adoro of the Eraserheads raped me when I was in high school.”
In her post she said the musician told her at that time that she was “lucky” because he didn’t “go all the way,” and that he also assaulted several other individuals.

At the same time, Adoro’s alleged rape victim likewise lambasted Eraserheads and Diane Ventura, director of the documentary film about the group and ex-wife of lead vocalist Ely Buendia, for “helping Adoro wipe his disgusting history clean so she can profit from the band.”
“It’s also saddening — but not surprising — to see that Ely Buendia, Buddy Zabala, and Raimund Marasigan have no principles. They previously stated that they did not condone abuse. Pera lang pala ang katapat ninyo. Pa-Spolarium Spolarium pa kayo, mga ipokrito,” the reddit user further said.

Responding to the post, Buendia said on Twitter that Adoro will be stepping back from the band’s upcoming set of activities on his social media platforms on Sunday, April 6.
“We acknowledge the recent allegations that have surfaced online. As proponents of justice, we unequivocally condemn all criminal acts and stand against abuse of any form. Above all, we seek the truth,” he began.
“As Marcus makes time to address the matter at hand, he will be stepping back from the upcoming project,” he said.

While Buendia didn’t specify which of Eraserheads’ activities won’t feature Adoro, he said the band will move forward with “humility and deep respect” for the truth.
“We move forward with humility and deep respect for the truth and social responsibility,” he said.
Adoro has yet to publicly address the rape accusations, as of this writing.
It can be recalled that the musician was embroiled in a controversy after he was accused by his daughter, singer-songwriter Syd Hartha, and his ex-partner actress Barbara Ruaro of alleged physical and emotional abuse in 2019.
“Hinding hindi ko makakalimutan iba’t ibang klase ng abuso na dinanas ko sa kanya. Kaya pala ako nilalayo ng nanay ko at iba pang mga kamag-anak ko sa kanya. Kaya pala (I can’t forget the different kinds of abuse I experienced from him. Now I know why my mother and other relatives made me stay away from him. That’s why),” Syd Hartha said on Facebook.
Adoro penned an open letter to his daughter three years later where he appealed for a “second chance for redemption,” adding that he had lost contact with the indie singer-songwriter.

Adoro, as well as the rest of the Eraserheads are on a promotional tour of their documentary film “Combo on the Run,” which hit theaters for a limited period last March. The film uncovers the band’s formation, rise to fame, disbandment, and how the members coped with its aftermath.
In the docu film’s end credits, Eraserheads teased that new music is in the works.
The band is also set to hold their “Electric Fun Music Festival” on May 31 at the SMDC Festival Grounds in Parañaque. Also included in the lineup are Itchyworms, Moonstar88, Imago, Dong Abay Music Organization, and Blaster, to name a few.
