Happy new year to all, and as we enter 2025, a Wednesday means the time for the weekly fuel price update in Malaysia, with the ministry of finance having announced the retail prices of fuels for the coming week of January 2 to 8, 2024.
Following a three sen per litre price increase twice in two weeks, RON 97 petrol takes another hike of the same margin, now at RM3,28 per litre; up three sen from the RM3.25 per litre price of last week. As before, RON 95 petrol continues at its ceiling price of RM2.05 per litre, as set by the Malaysian government in February 2021.
This time around, the retail price of diesel follows suit, also with a three sen increase to RM2.98 per litre, up from RM2.95 per litre last week. This will be reflected in Euro B7 diesel as well, which costs 20 sen more per litre, and will therefore be priced at RM3.18 per litre. Meanwhile, the retail price of diesel fuel in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan continues unchanged at RM2.15 per litre.
These fuel prices will take effect from midnight tonight until Wednesday, January 8, when the next set of fuel price updates will be announced. This is the first edition of the weekly fuel pricing format for this year, 2025, and the 312th in total since the format was introduced at the start of 2019.
