A 49-year-old man faces impaired driving charges after their vehicle crashed into a police cruiser on Murray Street last week.
Neither the driver nor the officer on patrol was injured in the crash, police said.
Ottawa Police Services said in a release Thursday that officers have laid 38 impaired driving-related charges in the last two weeks.
Police confirmed there have been 635 impaired driving charges so far in 2024, up about 10 cases compared to the same period in 2023.

While there are no tallies available, “the trend we are seeing is that about 32 per cent of impaired drivers are involved in collisions, generally the injuries vary from minor to life-altering injuries,” a police spokesman said.
“Impaired driving, by alcohol or drugs, endangers the lives of all road users,” police said in a message on the social media site X.
“Make planning your ride home part of your plans.”
