Option 1) Employer-sponsored coverage
- If you or your spouse are offered insurance by an employer, please review the plan benefits and premiums as a household. Some employers will offer a generous benefits package, while others will not cover the cost of a spouse or children.
Option 2) Covered CA premium assistance
- Take advantage of possible eligibility for premium assistance through Covered California, which depends on your age, household size, your combined household modified adjusted gross income, and zip code. If you are offered insurance by an employer, generally speaking, you are ineligible for premium assistance from Covered California.
Option 3) Off-exchange plans (direct-to-carrier)
- If your household’s modified adjusted gross income exceeds the cutoff for premium assistance from Covered California, then you might want to consider reviewing the plans available off-exchange or direct-to-carrier. There are some additional health insurance plans off-exchange that are not available through the Covered California exchange. In addition, the Silver 70 plans are more expensive through Covered CA than off-exchange.
